About the International Environmental Communication Association (IECA)

The IECA is dedicated to advancing the practice, study, and teaching of Environmental Communication in civic, political, educational, business, and cultural contexts. We are a professional association of teachers, scholars, artists, practitioners, students and organizations involved in Environmental Communication around the world.

IECA Membership for 2012

Anyone interested in joining the ECN² can do so for free. Just register for an account on the site. But for the full benefits of IECA, you need to be a paying member.

IECA membership is on a calendar year basis, from January 1 to December 31 each year.

Founding members who joined in 2011 have helped us launch the organization financially and have had access to the 2011 issues of Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture, along with other benefits. Thank you founding members!

Founding members receive a 10% discount on their renewals for as long as they maintain continuous membership. Founding member who wish to renew should login to the site and use the Renewal form.

We are now taking new individual, student,  associate, and organizational memberships for 2012.

Membership Benefits

Individual and Student members receive the following benefits:

• one annual subscription to Environmental Communication: A Journal of Nature and Culture (2012 - 4 issues)
• a minimum 10% discount on registration for the 2013 Conference on Communication and Environment
  (Note: conference discounts are incremental; members who join for the first time during the year of the conference get only a 10% discount while members who belonged for the prior year get a 20% discount. If your membership is not current during the year of the conference, you get no discount even if you were a member the previous year).
• access to member-only discussion groups
• access to member-only features of the web site, including the ability to list jobs, events. calls, courses, programs, blogs and other resources for free
• a member directory and collaboration service
• other benefits to be added

Associate members receive:

The same benefits as individual and student members, except NO journal subscription.

Organizational members receive:

• one Individual membership (see above)
• four (4) Associate memberships (see above)
• unlimited additional Associate memberships at a discounted rate (see below)

Note: all e-mail addresses connected to an organizational membership must be from the same organization.

Membership Rates

Membership is from January 1 to December 31 each year.

There are discounted rates for full-time students, as well as for people and organizations from developing nations. If you live in a country other than those listed in the box to the left, then you qualify for the reduced rate.

All rates are in US dollars.

• Organizational: New $300 | Renewing $270 | Additional Associates $50 each
• Developing country individual: New $40 | Renewing $36
• Developing country student: New $25 | Renewing $22

• Developing country organizational: New $140 | Renewing $126 | Additional Associates $25 each
